Our Past Players Program comprises a range of initiatives designed to maintain strong and meaningful connections with our former players. These programs also focus on fostering a strong sense of community, with a particular emphasis on engaging past players’ families to ensure everyone continues to feel connected to the Club.
Baby Bombers
Baby Bombers School Holiday Camps are designed for the sons and daughters of EFC Past Players aged 1–15.
The program includes small-sided football games, fundamental skill development, and goal-kicking activities for younger participants aged 1–11, while older participants take part in more in-depth football sessions tailored to their age group.
Each camp concludes with a catered lunch in the Essendonians Conference Room, providing Past Players with the opportunity to connect and socialise in a relaxed and private setting.
Through The Past Players Association, upon knowledge of a baby being born, a Baby Bomber Membership pack will be sent out to the baby welcoming them into our Club.
Flight Squad
The Flight Squad Afterschool Football Program is aimed at the children of EFC Past Players aged 12–15.
These sessions provide a deeper exploration of football, focusing on in-game scenarios, fundamental skill development, and small-sided games in a structured and engaging environment.
Family Function
At selected AFL and AFLW home games, we offer Past Players and their families a dedicated game-day function designed to strengthen the bond between generations of Bombers.
These functions include child-friendly activities, Guard of Honour activations, and catered food and beverages, all delivered in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Reunions
In conjunction with the Past Players Association, a range of reunion events are held throughout the year to celebrate connection, history, and shared experiences.
These include:
- Season Launch events, typically held around Round Three at a Marvel Stadium home game
- The Annual Dick Reynolds / Past Players Association Golf Day, held in the first week of February
- Past Players Club update forums hosted at The Hangar throughout the year
- The Annual Past Players Dinner, held during Grand Final Week at Windy Hill
Interstate Games
When the Club plays interstate, opportunities are created for Past Players and their families to come together through game-day functions, as well as attending the match together, reinforcing connection beyond Victoria.
Recognition Jumpers
Through the Past Players Association, recognition jumpers celebrating a Past Player’s history and contribution to the Club are presented over the course of the year.
