Essendon’s VWFL side has won both of its final two games leading into the 2021 Robert Rose Cup finals series.

After a six-month layoff and an 0-3 start to the season, the Bombers’ final two home and away games at Boroondara Sports Complex saw commanding wins over Hawthorn and Richmond.

Forward Caleb Logan was on-song in the 111-95 win over the Hawks, starring with 10 goals in a high-scoring affair to help the Dons register their first win of the season.

While the following game was a low-scoring contest, it proved to be the Bombers’ biggest winning margin with a 32-point win over the Tigers. Mark Walker was a key focal point, scoring a game-high five goals.

The two victories saw the side rise off the bottom of the ladder to place third, with the Dons now set to face Hawthorn again in a do-or-die semi-final at Boroondara Sports Complex on Sunday, November 21 at 11:15am.

If the Dons win, they will play in the subsequent preliminary final on the same day against the winner of the 2nd v 5th semi-final.

The side will be aiming to make the Robert Rose Cup Grand Final for the second year in a row, which will be played next Sunday, November 28.
