The Bombers registered their first win of the season in a cliffhanger against the Crows at Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

With contributors all over the ground in the four-point victory, here were some key player stats that stood out.

1. Roaming Red Dog

Defender Mason Redman showed his offensive weaponry with a career-high seven inside 50s against Adelaide.

‘Red Dog’ was free to roam up the ground, turning solid defensive work into forward drives which resulted in the 24-year-old being handsomely rewarded with a major of his own.

2. Perkins shows set-piece class

Archie Perkins displayed his ability to impact stoppages with a career-high three clearances while playing in a half-forward role.

Originally drafted as a midfielder-forward, Perkins’ efforts showed he has the capability to be a go-to at ball-ups.

3. No wastage from two back pillars

Key defenders Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Jayden Laverde showcased their brilliant ball use by scoring 100 per cent disposal efficiency.

The stat is an encouraging sign that Essendon is amending its defensive turnovers, which were a problem in the first three rounds of the season.

4. Hind time

Nick Hind was back to his rebounding best, scoring an equal season and game-high 624 metres gained against the Crows.

Hind’s impressive display rocketed him up the AFL’s total bounces table, where he now sits in fourth position.

5. 38 of the best for Parish

Darcy Parish was at his accumulative best on Sunday, producing a season-high 38 disposals.

The 24-year-old has now recorded three 30-plus disposal games in the first four rounds of the season and sits third in the AFL for total disposals.
