Scans on Sunday morning confirmed the extent of Jordan Ridley and Sullivan Robey's injuries following Essendon's loss to Hawthorn at the MCG.

Ridley has been diagnosed with a minor sprain to the Lisfranc joint after landing awkwardly in the first quarter of yesterday's loss to the Hawks - he will spend the next few days settling the joint before building back up to full training. He is a doubt for Sunday's clash with Adelaide at Marvel Stadium.

Robey will miss this week's game after scans confirmed a partial medial ligament tear in his right knee, sustained in a third-quarter tackle. The club will provide a clearer return-to-play timeline in the coming days.

Essendon's General Manager of AFL Daniel McPherson said the results were positive given the nature of both incidents.

"It’s pleasing that both players have avoided serious injury out of last night’s game, and while we’ll have a better idea of likely return-to-play timelines in the coming days, we’re more optimistic than we were last night,” McPherson said.

“There’s still plenty to play for in the remainder of this season and we hope to get both of them back up and going."

The Bombers take on the Crows next Sunday at Marvel Stadium from 4:40pm AEST.
