Essendon supporter Andrew Close’s dream came true last Saturday night at the MCG when he tossed the coin before the match against Collingwood.
Andrew's Seeing Eye dog, Matilda, was horrifically attacked and killed by a pack of dangerous dogs a month ago leaving the 23-year-old without his closest companion.
After watching the game with his family, the massive Essendon fan was welcome with open arms into the rooms post match meeting his favourite Bombers including captain Jobe Watson.
Close said he used to love watching the Bombers play along with his dog Matilda.
“I took her to watch Essendon play each week and we gave her a treat every time they scored a goal,” he said.
Andrew lost his sight in 1998 after a tumour and can only see one metre for every 100 metres that an average sighted person can.
He is currently having some trial runs with new Seeing Eye dogs and hopefully will find a compatible companion soon.
