The Bombers produced an electrifying final term to run over the Hawks in a 27-point win at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

Here are the key individual and team stats from the win.

1. Milestone man marking machine

Captain Dyson Heppell couldn’t be entering game 200 with a better performance under his belt after commanding Essendon’s defence across halfback.

Heppell produced a game-high 12 intercepts, thwarting a host of Hawthorn attacks which proved pivotal in the Dons’ win.

2. Parish ascends to top

Darcy Parish’s game-high 32 disposals is the seventh time the 24-year-old has accumulated 30-plus touches in a game this season.

Parish’s midfield dominance has rocketed him up to top of the AFL for disposals this season with 272, ahead of Clayton Oliver (266) and Lachie Neale (253), who round out the top three.

3. Bombers’ tackle heat

Essendon’s effort and intensity reached a season-high against the Hawks.

The Dons produced 59 tackles to Hawthorn’s 45 - a plus-15 result compared to the side’s season average of 44.

4. Hind time

Nick Hind showcased his dare and dash with a scintillating effort from defence.

Hind produced a game-high 552 metres gained in his best performance to date this season in a sign the 27-year-old may be recapturing the form which catapulted him into Champion Data’s ‘elite’ status for general defenders last season.

5. Caldwell’s career-high clearances

In only his 11th game for the club, young midfielder Jye Caldwell showcased his competitive ability at stoppages.

The 21-year-old produced a career-high five clearances in one of his better performances in the red and black, demonstrating his talent of getting in and under to obtain first use of the ball.

6. Draper’s domination

Essendon’s ascendancy around stoppages against the Hawks can be largely attributed to the grunt work of ruckman Sam Draper.

Draper was a force to be reckoned with in the ruck duel, tallying 29 hitouts - 11 more than his direct opponent Max Lynch.

The 23-year-old had more hitouts than Hawthorn’s combined total.
