Essendon captain Jobe Watson believes young star Joe Daniher has the ability to cope with the pressures that will come his way as a father/son selection.
Watson whose famous father Tim was a legend at Windy Hill told ‘The Hangar’ Joe was a star in the making who has the ability to be able to handle the external hype likely to come his way.
“The way that Joe has trained and the sort of person he has been around the club already I think he is going to be well adapted to coping with it,” Watson said.
""He reads the the ball really well for such a big guy and he has a natural football brain.""
Watson said Daniher would recieve no pressure from within the four walls of the football club.
“When I came to the club I certainly didn’t feel any internal pressure to be anything more than myself,"" he said.
“It can take a little while to feel as though you have stepped outside of your father’s footsteps.”
The Bombers skipper who is having a stellar season so far wearing the number four guernsey said he never had plans to wear his dad’s number 32 once he arrived at Windy Hill.
“I wore it as a junior for my school team Xavier,” he said
“Once I got to the club I thought it was a good idea to have my own identity and part of that was having my own number.”
