""We’ve got plenty of time, last week we had a six day rest. This week we have changed training around, we were at Xavier on Monday and we did a bit of running today and some ball work now,"" Kevin Sheedy said before training today.
""We trained very hard on Monday and now we will just tone it down coming into this Monday.""
And there were some positive sights for Bombers fans tonight out on the track. None more so than David Hille. He participated in marking and goal kicking drills for the first time since injuring his calf and looks on track for a return in the next few weeks.
Justin Murphy and Dean Rioli both missed last week’s game but trained stongly this evening and even though it was only drills, their inclusion in the Essendon outfit will add some important experience and skill.
""We’ve got a good young side, it just probably needs a little more experience and knowledge out there on the ground to help them get through a little bit of early career experiences,"" Sheedy said.
But while he will admit some of his team lack experience, the coach certainly isn’t questioning their passion.
""Hopefully it makes them lift and makes you finds out what type of calibre people you have on your list and great players come up under pressure and that’s what its all about.""
But Sheedy has hinted at three or four possible changes to the team. ""It will be a different line up coming up this week,"" he said.
One player looking to return into the side will be Ty Zantuck. He will be an important inclusion to the Essendon back line and the Bombers would be thrilled with his recovery from a shin problem when the original diagnoses was a 4-6 week period on the sidelines.
Also aiming for selection is Jobe Watson. He ran a personal best during this afternoon’s time trial and his coach was expecting him to follow it up with a good training session and put his hand up for selection.
""He’ll be jumping out of his skin tonight at training. He’s always a chance, because he has a footy brain and good hands and puts his head over the ball.""
