Bomber fans want Essendon midfielder Ricky Dyson to have a more consistent year in 2009 and, although they saw glimpses of promise, are not convinced he is in the team’s best 22 at the moment.

His report card rating from the fans increased from 4.3/10 to 5.3/10 in 2008 after he played an extra four games. Next season will be a big one for the 22-year-old (he turns 23 on the 28th of September) who has now played 64 games for the club.

What some of the Essendon fans had to say:

Although Ricky improved a little this year but is lacking in endurance. Requires to put in a solid preseason and to be ready for the very first game in 2009. (Michael Mirra).

Was a steady improver throughout the season after a very slow start. Will need to pick up his intensity and consistency throughout 4 quarters to work into our best 22 (Ben White).

Ricky has got a lot of pace and can really shine when needed. He has had a few standout games and can really change a game (Connor Hagliassis).

Hoped for more from Ricky this year. With younger players firing he needed to step up with them, but really he took a step down from previous form (Emily Paton).

His a fringe player that only should get a game if we have a lot of injuries. He has a good kick and good speed however he is not a damaging player for us (Andrew Cichello)

Ricky showed improvement this season but still has a long way to go if he is to become an established player (Brett Carmichael).
