The Essendon Football Club is considering its options after the AFL announced ruckman David Hille has been charged for engaging in rough conduct against Chad Cornes, Port Adelaide, on Sunday afternoon.

The AFL this afternoon said:

In summary, his sanction must remain at one match due to an existing poor record.

The incident, which occured in the third quarter, was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing a total of 125 demerit points and a one match sanction. He has an existing poor record with three games suspended in the last three years which increases his penalty by 30 per cent to 162.50 demerit points. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 percent to 121.88 demerit points and a one match sanction.
