On the eve of his 250th game, Essendon midfielder Scott Camporeale said he hopes to play on in 2008 - and possibly beyond - after over coming injury last year.
Speaking at a media conference today, the former Carlton Premiership player said he thinks the Bombers are on the up and could make a grand final in the near future.
""To come to a new club (Essendon) with such a great history of playing in finals and premierships and to see the list that we have got here I am pretty sure that, in the not too distant future, we'll be at least playing in one,"" he said.
Camporeale, who mentioned he would like to become an assistant coach one day, said milestones are not something he thinks about much now, but will look back on after retirement.
""I am most looking forward to running out tomorrow with my two boys, it's what i'll be looking forward to,"" he said.
""I have pretty much achieved most things I set out to do and I don't have any regrets.
""I've really enjoyed my time in the game and to play 13 years and 250 games, well; if it happens to end at the end of the year I can walk away from the game and say that I've given it everything.
""When I first came over to Melbourne from Adelaide I just wanted to play one game so to play alongside so many incredible players and to win a premiership in my first year was great. I've been blessed.""
Camporeale said he doesn't feel he has repaid the debt so far to Essendon for drafting him and that lights the fire in him.
He said he was disappointed to be dropped for last week's game which saw the return of Adam Ramanauskas after a courageous battle with cancer and was James Hird's 250th.
""I played alongside some of the greats of the game and James is right up there and we have become good mates so it would have been good to be out there,"" Camporeale said.
Essendon Football Club today placed Alwyn Davey on the long-term injury list after he suffered a broken arm in the second quarter of last Friday night’s encounter with Geelong.
