The Dons are heading to Optus Stadium for our Round 11 clash with West Coast on Saturday May 27 and again in Round 15 to take on Fremantle on June 24.

Essendon are calling all those who bleed red and black to head West with us to visit Optus Stadium.

It’s time to head to the sunniest capital city in Australia and witness the Dons bring it home in Perth (Boorloo). Voted one of the best stadiums in the world, seeing the Bomber’s play at Optus Stadium is a bucket list experience.

The trip out West historically holds many fond memories for the Essendon Football Club, with the Dons having played in some thrillers over the years.

2013: Rd 14 v West Coast

Thursday night Jobe Jeers. The Bombers pulled away late securing the win at Patersons Oval led by an inspired Jobe Watson. After an embattling week, Essendon's skipper gathered a massive 29 disposals and two goals much to the dismay of the West Coast faithful.

2013: Rd 3 v Fremantle

A Bomber comeback for the ages.

Essendon rallied from six goals down at the half to secure a four-point win over Fremantle. With the Bombers only managing one goal to the half, the hope of victory seemed slim. Essendon played a gutsy second half which saw the Bombers start their season 3-0.

2008: Rd 14 v Fremantle

A strong third quarter had the Bombers up 14 points up early in the last.

The Dockers then staged a spirited comeback to get the game within four points, where both sides juked it out until the final siren. Essendon were able to hold on in what was a thriller. Mark McVeigh was in terrific form gathering a career-best 36 disposals.

2018: Rd 14 v West Coast


Essendon by 28 points

Essendon beat eventual Premiers West Coast in its first ever game at Optus Stadium.

The fast-starting Bombers kicked the first eight goals of the match, stunning the Eagles. Forward Devon Smith was in full flight, with the eventual Crichton medallist kicking three goals.

2021: Rd 12 v Richmond

Despite the result not going in Essendon’s favour, the annual Dreamtime match proved to be an absolute spectacle at Optus Stadium.

Bearing a crowd of 55,000, the most for the 2021 season, Dreamtime at Optus was an event to behold.
