A lack of early draft picks means it isunlikely Essendon will secure young Gold Coast midfielder Josh Caddy during thecurrent trade period.

With the Suns setting a high price on thetalented young on baller, Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro said it would behard for the Bombers to pick up the 20-year-old.

“It is difficult because we don’t have anearly draft selection to trade, with our second pick currently at 32 and withcompensation that could go out to 34,” Dodoro said.

“It does knock you out of a lot of deals andthe Josh Caddy deal is a case in point.

“We are just going to be too far out of itin terms of draft selections to offer the Gold Coast anything so that won’toccur.”

It also seems the prospect of Essendonrecruiting out of contract free agent Brent Moloney has faded following thesigning of Brendon Goddard to the club.

“We have spoken about Brent but once weticked that box with Brendon Goddard we felt that we covered that area,” Dodorosaid.

“Having said that we will still weigh up afew things at the moment and wait and see on that one.”

Dodoro said the Bombers would be in searchof another midfielder if the right deal came across the table.

“Obviously if we could obtain anothermidfielder that would be good,” he said.

“We are happy to go to the draft table nowif nothing happens but there is still two and a half weeks ahead and a lot canhappen.”

The AFL trade period deadline is on October26 at 2pm.
