CEO Xavier Campbell has praised fans for their ongoing support throughout the 2016 season.

Speaking after Friday night’s disappointing loss, Campbell spoke of the importance of having supporters continue to come to games and cheer the boys on.

“Our members have been so resilient and so loyal, I’ve got enormous admiration for their support – particularly at  a time that’s been so challenging with the various issues that we’ve suffered and faced,” said Campbell after the game

“This year was always going to be very difficult on the back of the decision from the CAS.

“Our fans have been fantastic and we’ve got to try and keep making them proud.”

In a tough year, the Club’s great supporters have rallied behind the team consistently and Friday night was no exception.

Chants of ‘We Are Essendon’ rang through the stadium right until the final siren and there was still plenty of red and black in the stands as the boys walked off.

Both Campbell and Coach John Worsfold encouraged fans to continue to come to the game and see the Club’s exciting future develop in front of their eyes.

Essendon’s youth once again led the way on Friday night with players such as Zach Merrett, Orazio Fantasia, Joe Daniher and Darcy Parish all impressive.

Parish’s game, in particular, was one of his best to date.

The 18-year old collected 27-disposals, 11 of which were contested, had four clearances and three marks.

His undying effort, however, was perhaps best summed up late in the last quarter when he refused to give up the chase on his man, laid the tackle and won the free kick.

Daniher also continued to work hard, seemingly responding to the heavy criticism that he has been under in the last few weeks.

Aside from kicking the two opening goals, Daniher worked tirelessly up and down the ground to get involved in the game.

The tall forward would finish the day with two goals, 10 marks and his movement and delivery into the forward line provided plenty of opportunity for fellow teammates to get on the board.

Essendon now has a nine-day break before facing the in form GWS Giants next Sunday at Etihad Stadium at the family friendly time of  4:40pm.
