Young gun Adam McPhee re-signed with the Bombers earlier today. McPhee signed a new two-year contract that will see him call Windy Hill home until the end of 2006. Essendon chief executive Peter Jackson said the club was thrilled to re-sign Adam and secure his services before his contract expired at the end of the season.

""As Adam has demonstrated this season, he is integral to the future on-field success of the Essendon Football Club. He is happy in the Essendon environment and was keen to stay at Windy Hill.

""Both parties are extremely happy with the new two-year contract. The deal was done quickly as Adam didn’t want any distractions heading into the business end of the season,"" Jackson said.

McPhee was traded to Essendon at the end of the 2002 season in the highly publicised three-way deal that saw Blake Caracella go to Brisbane and Damian Cupido come to Essendon, along with McPhee.

In his first season at the club, McPhee won praise for his hard-at-it style of play and was rewarded at the end of 2003 with the ‘Most Courageous’ award at the Crichton Medal.

McPhee has gone from strength to strength this season. He has been the Bombers most consistent performer and his determination and skill level has seen him influence games off his own boot.
