Essendon will feature in three Friday night blockbusters following the AFL's round 16-23 fixture release.

The Bombers will face Collingwood, Adelaide and Sydney in the competition's marquee slot, with the club also to feature in three Saturday night matches against Geelong, Melbourne and Gold Coast. A Saturday twilight clash with St Kilda and Sunday afternoon fixture against Fremantle round out the newly-slated matches.

All eight confirmed matches post round 15 will take place in Melbourne, with an even split of four games each to be held at the MCG and Marvel Stadium.

Essendon will take on the Dockers at the MCG for the first time since 1999.

The Bombers' round 24 clash with the Brisbane Lions at The Gabba is still to be confirmed at a later date.

Tickets for newly-released matches will go on-sale at a date to be announced shortly.
