Football codes joined forces today as Krisnan Inu and Jarryd Hayne of the Paramatta Eels took part in an Essendon skills session at Windy Hill.
The Eels stars took the Bomber boys through a tackling drill before testing their own talent with a Sherrin.
And, to Patirck Ryder’s surprise, it seemed the NRL players were able to teach the Essendon players a trick or two.
“It was really good having the boys out here today,” Ryder explained.
“We obviously can learn a bit from them with their tackling intensity at such a high level.
“Just in the training drill before, the guys taught me a couple of things I can do with the rotation of my hips and they taught me how to use my body a bit better.
“And they certainly know how to kick the ball a long way that’s for sure!”
Inu and Hayne will spend the day at Windy Hill learning new training methods as part of their NRL club’s push to provide variety to their pre-season.
Other Eels players have previously spent time with soccer, cricket and basketball clubs.
The Essendon Football Club Annual General Meeting was held tonight with the highlight of the evening the presentation of life membership to former captain and assistant coach Neale Daniher. Daniher was one of six life memberships awarded with former players Mark Johnson and Mark Bolton also given the prestigious award.
