The Essendon Football Club has once again demonstrated its commitment to grassroots sport, distributing $195,700 to 10 local sporting clubs across the region. This year’s allocation continues a partnership spanning more than 30 years, providing essential support to community sporting organisations in our heartland.
The funding is structured in two components: an annual distribution of $133,900 shared among 10 clubs, and a targeted capital grants program of $61,800 awarded to six clubs for specific infrastructure and equipment projects.
This year’s capital grants program has enabled significant improvements across several partner clubs, with funding directed toward projects that will have lasting impact on their operations and member experiences. The Essendon Hockey Club received support for a new scoreboard match timer, improving game management and spectator experience. The Essendon Croquet Club upgraded its sprinkler system to ensure optimal playing conditions, while the Essendon Rowing Club enhanced its facilities with a new marquee and training bikes.
"The partnership between the Essendon Football Club, the Windy Hill Venue and the Essendon Rowing Club (ERC) has been fundamental to community engagement and growth," Essendon Rowing Club President Luke Mascaro said.
"Over the last decade, support from the Bombers has helped ERC strengthen its clubrooms, fleet and gym facilities. This year’s funding will expand the capacity of the gym to meet the needs of its growing membership.”
Essendon’s Chief Strategy and Growth Officer Mark Bolton highlighted the importance of these partnerships in reinforcing the club’s community-first identity.
“Local sporting clubs are the backbone of our community footprint, and we’re proud to continue this contribution,” Bolton said.
“Our support helps these clubs thrive and encourages more kids to get involved in sport across our heartland. The Essendon area remains a focal point for our community strategy, and we’re excited to carry this momentum into 2026.”
