Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Di Pietro as Vice President.

Di Pietro elevates to the role after joining the Board in October 2025. He succeeds Tim Roberts, who transitions from the Vice Presidency to Chief Executive Officer. Roberts will continue to serve as a Director on the Board in his new capacity as CEO.

Di Pietro brings a wealth of elite sporting and commercial leadership to the position. He famously served as Chairman of Melbourne Victory for 13 years and a Director for 18, where he oversaw a historic transformation. At Melbourne Victory he guided the club to becoming a trophy winning powerhouse of the A-Leagues.

Professionally, Di Pietro is the Group CEO and Director of Premier Fresh Australia, one of the nation’s leading fresh produce companies, which he has steered for more than 22 years.

Essendon President Andrew Welsh said Di Pietro’s elevation was an important outcome for the Club.

“Anthony is an experienced leader, executive and board member who has quickly become a key sounding board for me since joining the Club. He has already had a strong impact on how we operate at Board level and this elevation allows him to continue to drive this club forward,” Welsh said.

“What he achieved at Melbourne Victory, turning the club into a consistent contender that led on and off the field, is a reflection of leadership style and vision.

“Having that expertise and experience sitting alongside me in the Vice President’s role is an asset for us and I look forward to working closely with him in the years ahead.”

Anthony Di Pietro said he was proud to step into the role having already seen the shift at Board level since joining in October.

“When I joined the Board, I was moved by Andrew’s vision for the Club and the clarity of purpose he brought to the role. In a short period of time, I’ve seen that vision translate into action through his ‘All in All Heart’ approach, and it was the momentum he created around the club that motivated me for the Vice President role.

“As a lifelong Bombers fan, it’s an honour to take on this role. I’m committed to playing an active part in growing the Club both on and off the field and to being a strong support for Andrew in his role as President.

“While we all recognise the hard work that lies ahead, there is a genuine excitement about what this Club can achieve, and I can’t wait to play my role in our overall Club success.
