HIRD, PLEASE GIVE US THE TIP!
Only four weeks to go in the home and away footy season, means there is only four weeks of tipping left in the James Hird Give us the Tip! competition. Bomber supporter Michael Finn is the clear leader at the conclusion of Round 18 with a healthy score of 112 but the leaderboard tightens up from there on. Second placed John Strybosch (99 points) is fighting off Leanne Neville (97 points) in third position and Mark Tarrant (92 points) is hoping to come home with a run, and put himself in contention for a prize.

There are sensational prizes up for grabs, including interstate travel with the team, sitting on the bench at an Essendon home game and kick to kick with Matthew Lloyd - so it will be interesting to see, what Bomber supporters last the distance and take the gold, silver and bronze.
There have been a few surprise results in the 2002 AFL season. Who would have predicted Carlton winning the wooden spoon? Did you think Brisbane could repeat its premiership winning form of 2001? Where did you predict the Bombers would finish this season after finishing in first place for the past two years? The unpredictable season has resulted in the Engine Room's - Climb the Ladder competition - being tougher than first expected.
At the start of the season, Engine Room members were asked to predict the finishing order of the 16 teams. After every round, one penalty point was given for every team that was out of position. Therefore the person that finishes the season with the lowest score will be declared the winner. Entrants were given the opportunity to change the order of their ladder halfway through the season. Most people took this opportunity to change a few teams around.
With four rounds of footy left in 2002, the Climb the Ladder leaderboard is a little congested. With average scores of 70-points, the Climb the Ladder crown is still clearly up for grabs! The leaderboard looks like this: Jeannine Ford - 826 points Stephanie Templeton - 884 points 059511 - 924 points Stoney - 934 points Leascriv - 960 points
Centre half forward can be a lonely position when a side is struggling to play its best football. And so it has been for some of season 2002 for Scott Lucas. The 24-year-old who starred in the 2001 finals' series for the Bombers hasn't got as much of the football as he would have liked. As is too often the case, he is one of the players that the armchair critics were quick to point the finger at. For a forward line to function it needs quality football delivered to it and the Bombers skills by hand and foot haven't been as good as in recent seasons.
