Archie Roberts has been named Essendon’s Liberty Player of the Month for rounds one to five.
The 20-year-old defender has been one of the Don’s most reliable performers, acquiring many accolades in his three years at the Club, including runner up for Best and Fairest at the 2025 Crichton Medal and a Rising Star nomination.
After a tricky start to the team’s season, Roberts’ consistency and attack is what makes him shine on the ground, with an average of 30.5 disposals per game with a 76.2% kicking efficiency.
His career top performance against Melbourne in round five solidified his position as one of the team’s most important players as he ranked best on the field for 24 kicks, spending 89% of his playing time in the defensive half with 82% disposal efficiency.
Roberts’ season average of 516 meters gained a game has coach, Brad Scott, marvelling at his progress, as he has ample opportunity to see more midfield action in future rounds.
“He has been terrific”, Scott says, “his development at the moment is continuing on a pretty steep upward curve”.
The impressive youngster is an exciting one for the Bomber faithful to watch and is set to continue his run into the ANZAC game for round seven.
