Gleeson among VFL inclusions

BTV: VFL Rd 7 | Highlights Highlights from our round seven win over Sandringham.

Essendon VFL has selected its 27-man squad ahead of Saturday’s triple header against Richmond at the Swinburne Centre.

The side features 16 senior-listed Bombers, including Mark Baguley who will play his first VFL match for 2019.

Marty Gleeson, Tom Jok, Trent Mynott and Mitch Brown have also been named, after being sidelined for a number of weeks with varying injuries.

Ray Connellan returns to the line-up, having made his last appearance in the round three win over North Melbourne.

Michael Hartley will act as the key defensive post, while vice-captain Heath Hocking will start at full-forward.

David Myers will begin in the centre and vice-captain Danny Younan will start on the extended bench – the pair kicking three and four goals respectively in Sunday’s 13-point win over Sandringham.

Nineteen-year-old Riley Bowman from Sandringham Dragons in the NAB League has been named the 23rd player, and is expected to play a combination of ruck and forward minutes.

Saturday’s triple header begins at the Swinburne Centre with Essendon VFLW taking on Richmond from 12pm, followed by the VFL Dons at 2:30pm.

Following these games, the annual Dreamtime at the ‘G match will be held from 7:25pm.

VFL match updates and scores will be posted on Essendon VFL’s twitter account, while the game will be streamed live on vfl.com.au.

The final team will be announced before the first bounce.
