Essendon is thrilled to welcome Madi Ibrahim to its AFLW list for the 2026 season.

Ibrahim’s impressive form over the course of this VFLW season with the Bombers caught the eyes of the senior program, who’ve acquired her services with the list spot that opened from Brooke Brown’s season-ending injury.

A pacy winger with plenty of upside at just 19 years of age, Ibrahim possesses a lovely left foot and has healthy experience as a train-on player - both with Melbourne last season and then in this pre-season with the Dons.

Ibrahim’s round five effort against Casey held a season-high 18 touches, five tackles and a goal, showing exactly the kind of footy she’ll be hoping to translate to the highest level.

“We’re rapt for Madi to earn this opportunity,” Essendon’s AFLW List and Recruiting Manager Josh Moore said.

“Over the last two seasons at VFLW level and her stint with us as a train-on during this pre-season, we’ve had direct exposure to her talent and she’ll provide a great option for us on the wing and off half back.

“Madi has genuine speed which she uses for elite repeat efforts, a really promising defensive profile and loves to apply pressure. She’ll fit right into our program.”

“I’d also like to acknowledge our VFLW program who do a fantastic effort in preparing players. Madi’s signing is a great reward for all the players and staff within our VFLW program."

The Dons open their 2026 season on home deck at Windy Hill against reigning Grand Finalist Brisbane in two weeks’ time.
