Essendon rookie Brendan Lee has been elevated to the club's senior list as a replacement for Mark McVeigh who was today placed on the long term injury list.

Lee, 24, was recruited to the Bombers as a mature aged rookie and is now available to play against North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

McVeigh, who has been struggling with an ongoing knee injury, will now miss the remainder of the 2012 season.

General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said the elevation of Lee to the senior list was a result of the 24-year-old’s impressive form in the VFL.

“We are pleased to confirm the promotion of Brendan to the club’s senior list,” Hamilton said.

“Brendan has been one of the most consistent performers in the VFL and when he gets his opportunity we are confident he can have an immediate impact on the team.""

Lee won East Perth's best and fairest and finished fourth in the Sandover Medal, racking up 500 possessions in the WAFL last year. the dashing midfielder boasts a big engine and wins a good mix of inside and outside ball.

He has enjoyed a consistent season with Essendon's VFL affiliate side, Bendigo Gold.
