Madison Ibrahim’s rapid rise through the ranks will reach another milestone this weekend, with the 19-year-old set to make her AFLW debut in the red and black against Fremantle.

Ibrahim joined Essendon’s AFLW list earlier this season, earning her elevation after Brooke Brown was placed on the inactive list due to an ongoing injury, in-turn opening a position on the Club’s list.

The opportunity followed an impressive VFLW campaign, with Ibrahim showcasing the speed, skill and attacking flair that quickly caught the attention of the Bombers’ senior program.

One of her standout performances came in round five of the VFLW against Casey, where Ibrahim collected a season-best 18 disposals, laid five tackles and hit the scoreboard with a goal.

That performance was a glimpse of the impact Ibrahim can have with ball in hand, while her pace and willingness to compete have added further dimensions to her game.

Now, after steadily building her case in the VFLW and embracing every opportunity to learn at AFLW level, Ibrahim will get her chance to take the next step.

Essendon AFLW General Manager Aysha Ward said Ibrahim has been an amazing addition to the program and looks forward to seeing her don the red and black on Sunday.

“Madi has been really impressive with the way she’s attacked every opportunity that’s come her way,” Ward said.

“She’s a player with plenty of natural ability, but it’s been her work ethic and willingness to learn that have really stood out to us. She’s earned this opportunity and we’re excited to see her take the next step.”
