In this week’s poll we pose the question, should the Bombers move from Windy Hill if it means getting better training facilities?
Last week’s poll asked 'Will Essendon still make the 2010 finals?' and over 60% of voters said 'no', with 27.6% remaining optimistic and 11.6% sitting on the fence.
Joseph Attard from Taylors Hill says: Based on what we've seen so far, absolutely NO CHANCE.
Erica Parker from Wellard, Western Australia says: It is nice to dream but my dreams became nightmares on ANZAC day.
Jarrod O'Callaghan from says: You're kidding right?
Angela McMaster from Gowanbrae Victoria says: It would be a miracle, if the bombers made the finals. Last year was a fluke, and Adelaide made us pay. This team is a disgrace, and the coach has to go. I feel ashamed to say I follow the mighty bombers. Not mighty any more.
Wayne Jones from Berwick/ Australia says: We wouldn’t even make the VFL finals, let alone the AFL.
Leigh from Caroline Springs says: Going by the current form on display it's a big NO! The players do not look committed, passionate and aren't playing at a good enough level to even challenge finals. After reading James Hird's article in the sun yesterday I was inspired by it and he is 110% spot on. Perhaps the 22 on ground can read and learn from the master, play inspired daring footy and then at best we are a maybe.
JD Nelson from Coburg, VIC says: After last week's showing you'd have to say that the Melbourne Storm has more chance of making the finals series than Essendon! Unless the players and staff find some kind of miracle cure for our lack of pace, sub-par skills, weak endeavour and zero self-confidence (and find a way to cover the massive loss of Pears) we will be battling the Tigers for non-existent draft picks...
Edward Stunnell from Engadine, NSW says: Considering the Bombers had one of the best injury runs during pre season the results so far have been extremely disappointing. It is difficult to find a single genuine star player across the entire team. A number a longer term players will be lucky to remain at season’s end.
Stephen Mc Ateer from Niddrie says: Ask me on Sunday.
Terry Wescombe from Camperdown NSW says: The truth, the Bombers are really looking at finishing 14th! Sad, I know but with this coach and with his playing methods...we are 'cellar bound'
Toddy from Tassie says: 1-4, form and attitude poor.... Not likely, let’s be real here. You can’t afford big losses early and we still have the top sides and interstate trips. 10-12 ....we’re building for 2011... But we need something as it’s not working, no matter how much spin is put on it, we look lost and certainly not hungry
Charles Spicar from Wyndham Vale says: The Bombers much publicised game plan doesn't stack up. It may be pretty to watch at times but the brand of footy is unaccountable. Sides have been scoring heavily against us and we seemed to lack the physicality in contests to damage other sides. We can't win finals with this brand of footy.
Darren Matthews from Oakleigh says: My heart says yes but my head says no. To win at least 11 more games would mean a dramatic improvement in fitness, skills, defensive ability and having a genuine forward targets. Perhaps 2012 is more likely.
Michael Bergman from Melbourne/Victoria says: Unfortunately the team is 5 years off being a contender. Many of the 2003 - 2006 batches of players just don’t seem to be able to develop into consistent performers. Like Richmond, we may be entering endless 5 year plans.
Derek from Brunswick says: Should be an option for ""Not unless they stop playing like they're in Auskick rather than the AFL.""
Andrew Philippou from Niddrie says: As long as the players have a real crack, win or lose every Essendon supporter will be behind them always.
James Brown from Berwick, Vic says: with the start that we've had and the loss of pears and Reimers, it's looking bleak. This season I am hoping for Hurley and Gumbleton to get together and combine for a dominant forward line. Our midfield needs to take the next step forward. We only have a solid midfield; I want it to be elite. If we can keep moving forward for the rest of the year, and have our players pick up our game plan and start hitting targets, I'll think this season is a success.
Jesse Collyer from QLD says: To all the so-called Essendon supporters who say we cannot make the finals - SHAME ON YOU! As long as it's still mathematically possible then we CAN do it and we surely WILL strive to do it. Otherwise what is the point? What has happened to this club if supporters won't even back the team to make the finals, let alone the flag? It saddens me that too many have lost sight of our purpose. SIXTEEN AND COUNTING, always counting!
Vincent Berraud from Hughesdale, VIC says: Of course we won't. It’s been a very disappointing start to the year. Some of the worst football I have ever seen at Essendon. Disgusting!
Luke Martin from Patterson lakes says: I was thinking that the year was gone before pears and Reimers were injured. It will take a massive effort to win our way to final, I’m not sure we have it in us, but stranger things have happened. Go dons.
Shannon Hudson from Adelaide says: Of cause we can. Names like Hille, Watson, Stanton, Hurley Gumby, Fletcher, Zaharakis, Pears, Reimers, Ryder, NLM, McVeigh, Welsh just to name a few. I LOVE the sound of this team; we just need to knit together!!!!
Angeline Baron from Ferntree Gully/Vic/Australia says: Never say die!
Greg Sloan from Somerville VIC says: If we can maintain consistent form, then yes we can. We’ve still got a long way to go.
William Arthur from Tasmania says: If the Bombers Can play like they did against the Hawks CONSISTANTLY throughout 2010, they will have a very definite chance to make the finals. The big hurdle is they could not play consistent football last year, and have not done so this year, so Bomber boys show us supporters you can string some wins together, and watch the support rise for you!
Josephine Scerri from, Narre Warren Vic says: I think they have a chance to beat port Adelaide.
Maranatha from Ferntree Gully, Melbourne, Vic says: It will be a challenge, certainly, especially with a tough fixture, but then, the experts predicted prior to last season that Essendon wouldn't make the final eight - and they did - regardless of injuries to key players. This year, our injury toll is not as bad as last season's...but I have every confidence that the Dons can make the finals for the 2nd year running under Knights' coaching and surprise a few.
Lara from Victoria says: There are many things that the club needs to improve on, and we need many players to improve and play consistently well. Seeing the progress particular players have made over the pre-season, I believe, and REALLY hope, that we can make it like last year.
