ESSENDON believes it will soon re-sign out-of-contract forward Scott Gumbleton and veteran ruckman David Hille.
Gumbleton has met with rival clubs, including Melbourne and Fremantle, since the end of the season, while 31-year-old Hille is overseas and yet to accept the one-year deal on offer.
But the Bombers remain confident both will be at Windy Hill in 2013.
"Gumby has a contract in front of him at the moment and we're pretty confident that we'll get a pretty positive resolution very, very shortly," Essendon manager player personnel Adrian Dodoro told Gillette AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday.
"I'm confident. Nothing's been signed, so we can't pre-empt anything, but the indications are we're heading down that path.
"He's a young man who's been through a hell of a lot over the past six years with the injuries, but he's finally got on top of it and I think all the Bombers' fans would love to see him play to his potential next year."
Dodoro said they expected Hille to recommit once he returned to Australia.
"He hasn't signed [the contract] yet because he's overseas at the moment, but it's heading in the positive direction and I think we'll get a really positive outcome there as well in the not too distant future," he said.
He also said the Bombers weren't expecting to trade for West Coast midfielder Koby Stevens.
"We've had discussions about a number of a players who are seeking new homes and Koby is one we've spoken to West Coast and his management about," he said.
"I wouldn't say it's a high priority for us.
"They've got an asking price and at the moment we're probably not going to go near him based on what the asking price is."
He didn't rule out interest in Stevens should the 21-year-old fall through to the NAB AFL Draft, although he conceded a few clubs were looking at him.
Dodoro said the Bombers had "a few little things happening" with "lesser-type of deals", but denied interest in Hawthorn free agent Clinton Young.
"We've brought Brendon Goddard into the club and we're looking at a couple of other opportunities that may pop up next week; if they happen they happen, if they don't, they don't," he said.
"Clinton probably isn't part of our plans at the moment."
