McPhee and the St.George team not only had bragging rights yesterday they also got to take home the perpetual EFC Corporate Golf Cup trophy. Each team member also received a replica cup to sit permanently on their mantelpiece, a lifestyle pack from BMW Melbourne and a magnum of Tyrrell’s Shiraz.
Unfortunately no one drove home in a BMW Z4 after failing to score a hole in one at the first hole and the Mini Cooper S also went back to BMW Melbourne after no hole in one was scored on the 11th hole. However, Matt Marsh from Beiersdorf didn’t go home empty handed.
Marsh won the nearest pin award and the longest drive competition. For his efforts he went home with a 4L bottle of Jim Beam provided by Maxxium and a digital camera from Ricoh (nearest pin) and will enjoy a weekend in a BMW Z4 courtesy of BMW Melbourne for winning the longest drive competition.
In the hot conditions the golfers were able to quench their thirst at the 14th hole. CUB provided a watering hole with tastings of their new boutique beers. The competitors enjoyed Tyrrell’s wine tasting at the 10th hole and will have a reminder of the day when they return to work tomorrow. The Hutchison ‘3’ squad was busy taking group photos of the golf teams at the third and eighth hole and emailed the photo straight from the ‘3G’ phone to each competitor’s email inbox.
Competitors had a relaxed lunch in the club dining room after the golf concluded at 1pm. Jason Johnson was the master of ceremonies and guests heard from club CEO Peter Jackson and newly appointed chairman Neil McKissock. Despite being a keen golfer, Johnson admitted that his golf game had deteriorated in recent years. ""I was a bit rusty early but I slowly got into the game. My golf game is struggling a little bit at the moment - I don't hit it often enough, but it is still good fun,"" Johnson said.
The BomberLand team was on site to catch all the action. Click here to view the EFC Corporate Golf Cup photo album.
