The Geelong Falcons and the Essendon Football Club have developed an excellent working relationship in recent years and both club shave benefited from it.
Essendon can thank the Falcons for developing star Bomber duo Scott Lucas and Chris Heffernan and the Falcons are developing a reputation as a an excellent nursery for AFL footballers.
And Bomber supporters will be hoping the Falcons hierarchy can provide them with another high quality player after Essendon picked up Geelong Falcon Sam Hunt with their third selection at the recent national draft.
Regional manager for the Geelong Falcons is former Geelong star Michael Turner and he believes the Bombers have made a pretty astute selection.
"Sam is a tall athletic player who has developed very quickly this season - to be honest he was lucky to make our list at the start of the year," Turner said.
"But he put his head down when he got his chance and he has matured greatly both on and off the ground."
Turner said Hunt had played most of his football on the wing and in defence for the Falcons.
"He is very good on both sides of the body and is a sensational kick - I'm sure with time he could be a very good player," Turner said.
"I'd expect Essendon would lock him away in the VFL side for a couple of seasons and just let him develop.
"He has some way to go physically before he would be ready for senior football. He has still got to come to terms with what is required physically and make body contact with his opponent."
