Bomber supporters have already seen draftee Brent Stanton in action. The 17-year-old played all three Wizard Cup matches and showed signs that he will be an integral member of the midfield in future years. ""He has been pretty lucky to get those selections, but the times he has been near the ball he has made good decisions and chased very hard,"" Bomber coach Kevin Sheedy said.

2003
The Bombers took Northern Knights midfielder Stanton with selection 13 at the 2003 National AFL Draft. Stanton was joined by Northern Knights teammate Ricky Dyson when he was selected with Essendon’s selection 44.

STRENGTHS
Stanton’s leg speed is clearly one of the strengths of his game. His pace will be a welcome inclusion to the Bombers’ mid-field ranks in future years. Stanton will be aiming to increase his physical strength over the coming year.

POSITION
Stanton is a medium-sized midfielder who doesn’t mind floating forward and kicking a goal. He will become an integral player in the Bendigo Bombers’ centre structure this season.

2004
Similar to the other three draftees, 2004 will be a learning year for Stanton. He will focus on improving his physical strength and learn what senior football is all about through the VFL competition. However, don’t discount a senior appearance for Stanton. The coaching panel is always keen to blood young players in their first season. Don’t be surprised if you see the number 34 in action this season!

WHAT SHEEDY SAYS
Brent Stanton is a very good talented player. He is only 17-years of age and he didn’t miss a Wizard Cup match. He has been pretty lucky to get those selections, but the times he has been near the ball he has made good decisions and chased very hard. I think the three games in the Wizard Cup will hold him in good stead for pre-match preparation and getting to know what is expected of you as a league player. These young players can go back into the VFL side now and develop from there.
