Cartledge out for the season
Essendon ruckman Tristan Cartledge’s season has come to an end. Cartledge strained his posterior cruciate ligament in the VFL match against Werribee last Saturday. Football operations manager Dominic Cato said that it is a five to six week injury and doesn’t expect Cartledge to play again this season.
""The injury to Tristan doesn’t require surgery, however he has been troubled with fluid on the knee during the season and has managed that condition.
""As the recent injury in affect will end his season, a decision has been made to perform an arthroscope today to alleviate the condition he has been coping with during the year,"" Cato said.
""The good news is that Tristan will be fully fit and ready to go again once the pre-season starts in November.""
Peter Banfield was left lamenting his team’s lack of height and experience after Saturday’s 69-point loss. Werribee boasted nine senior AFL players (Western Bulldogs players) and used that experience perfectly in the muddy conditions at the Queen Elizabeth Oval. ""It was a disappointing result, we didn’t play well and we lacked a lot of experience,"" Banfield said.
