Essendon has recorded their third win of the VFL season with a comfortable 44 point victory over the Northern Blues at Windy Hill on Saturday.

In front of a packed crowd of approximately 3,000 people, the Bombers led from start to finish after Cory Dell’Olio put the first major on the board in the second minute of the game.

Both teams struggled to get their game going in the first quarter however, it then opened up in the second with the Bombers piling on five goals to three.

Essendon extended their margin at every change throughout the match and pushed the margin out to as much as 51 points.

Defender Lachie Dalgleish said it was the side’s best performance for the season.

“I thought we played really well as a team. It started in the midfield with Tags (Sam Tagliabue) and Fraser (Thurlow) giving us first look at the ball and it set us up from there."

Elliott Kavanagh had arguably his best game of the season and looked right at home in the midfield.

“Kav has really been working hard on his inside ball and he has such clean hands which really helps him as well,” Dalgleish said.

Second gamer Jack Langford also made the most of his opportunity, kicking three goals in the well-rounded win.

“He leads up really well and the boys honour his leads.”

“He’s been really good so far and he was a bit unlucky to miss out on the full game last week due to injury, but he was super today”.

Dalgleish also praised Essendon’s forward line pressure, which was a pivotal aspect of the game.

“We thought we were good there. We like to roll our midfielders up and create heaps of pressure around the ball carrier.”

The VFL Bombers will look to make it two in a row next week as they take on Richmond at the ME Bank Centre (Punt Rd) next Saturday afternoon before the annual Dreamtime At The ‘G blockbuster at the MCG.
