Tasmanians Mitch Hibberd and Andrew Phillips will make their Essendon debuts on Friday night, with the Bombers making three changes for their round five clash against the Magpies.

The pair join Jayden Laverde as inclusions, replacing Zach Merrett (suspended), Tom Bellchambers (managed) and Aaron Francis, who suffered back spasms during training this week.

Hibberd, 23, played four games for North Melbourne in 2017 before joining Williamstown in the VFL last season.

The ready-made inside midfielder averaged 24 disposals and seven tackles across his 20 VFL games last year to earn a spot on Essendon's rookie list.

Phillips crossed over to the Bombers from the Blues during last year's trade period, impressing during Essendon's unbeaten Marsh Community Series.

Part of the Giants' foundation squad, the experienced ruckman has played 41 AFL games and will have extra reason to celebrate on his 29th birthday tomorrow.

With the traditional Anzac Day clash cancelled this year due to the AFL lockdown, Essendon and Collingwood will don their 2020 Anzac Appeal guernseys to raise funds for current and former serving members of the Australian Defence Force.

All profits from the sale of the 2020 Essendon Anzac Appeal guernsey, along with limited-edition commemorative badges, will be donated to the Anzac Appeal.
