It was a buoyant Kevin Sheedy who shared his press conference with Sid the Seagull today to promote ‘Clash for Cancer’ this Sunday against Melbourne at The Dome. The game is a joint venture between The Cancer Council of Victoria and Essendon to raise vital funds for the organisation.

""This game is all about people who have been stricken with a disease which is awful for the human population to overcome all the time,"" Sheedy said.

""Cancer touches the lives of most Australians', including many within the Essendon Football Club community.""

The team got into the spirit of the match also, conducting their warm up in yellow t-shirts and wore yellow armbands for training.

While cancer remains the leading cause of death in Australia, thanks to the important work of organisations such as the Cancer Council, the survival rate for many common cancers has increased by more than 30 per cent in the past two decades.

‘Clash for Cancer’ provides an opportunity for football supporters to make a difference in the fight against cancer by raising funds for The Cancer Council Victoria’s cancer research, education and patient support services.

Spectators can purchase yellow wristbands prior to the game at The Dome on Sunday 18 June. Donations can also be made online at www.clashforcancer.com.au or by calling 1300 65 65 85.
