Bomber fan, Robert Murrell, has described Sunday’s emotional farewell to Adam Ramanauskas, Jason Johnson, Damien Peverill and Mal Michael as an awesome experience.

Mr Murrell attended the game after winning the ‘favourite footy moment in the past eight years’ competition being run thanks to 3 mobile (who has been with the club for eight years).

“The day started off well and we got to to meet Courtenay Dempsey and have a picture and then the four retiring boys came out and it was awesome,” Mr Murrell said.

“Obviously the game was disappointing but it was a good day out and the last lap was a pretty special moment for the four guys.”

His prize included:

2 x Mobile phones thanks to Essendon's major partner 3 mobile

4 x Tickets to attend the Round 22 match against St Kilda (Sunday 31 August, 2008)

4 x Official Essendon apparel outfits (including a media polo, track jacket, cap and scarf) for Robert and his three friends.

His entry was:

My favourite moment of the last eight years is seeing Adam Ramanauskas’s brave battle to overcome adversity and still be a winner. Courage, determination and the will to succeed against the odds. If the footy club takes a few of these traits that Rama’s left then it will stand us in good stead for the future. Great work 3 mobile over the last eight years, let’s hope this may continue in some form over many more.

Mr Murrell said Ramanauskas provided his favourite footy moment because he found him inspirational.

“Rama’s ability to overcome adversity and his will to succeed and to keep going against the odds is pretty inspiring,” Mr Murrell said.

He is a third year member who follows the Bombers because that was who his father supported.
