Monfries was working up a sweat with teammate Darcy Daniher and says there is still plenty of hard work to be done.
“This year has been my seventh pre-season and I can definitely say that it has been the hardest pre-season I have endured without question,” Monfries said.
“The biggest change has been the amount of loads we have been doing - it’s been significantly more than previous years, and there has been added importance placed on skill levels.”
Monfries said the team’s main focus is to use every session – whether on the track or learning the game in team meetings - to get better.
“As a side we definitely want to improve on what we were building last year and obviously both us and the supporters would be disappointed if we didn’t,” he said.
“It would be great if we could win a few more games early in the season so that we can start the season on a positive note but either way, we are going to put in the hard yards and see where we can take the group.”
Monfries says the highlight of his Christmas break has been a fishing trip to Kangaroo Island in South Australia with some of his friends.
