BOMBER FANS SPEAK THEIR MIND
The match against Sydney was a heart stopper for Essendon supporters. However the Bombers were able to come out on top after a gutsy performance at Stadium Australia. A large contingency of Essendon supporters attended the game and they liked what they saw. Bombers supporter John Stone said the main reason we won the match was our better use of the ball and our senior players standing up. “Alessio kicked a few early goals and Heffernan was good with his evasive skills. I was also impressed with Caracella – I thought we won a lot of the ball,” Stone said.

Engine Room member Peter Ackary was pleased the team got away with the win, but said the team still needs to lift for the four quarters. “Once again a good start and dominant first quarter and we built up a lead good enough to defend a spirited and persistent Swans side. We must learn to play out games. Alessio played his best game since 1999 when he was in career best form. McVeigh was important but should have topped off his game with better goal kicking. Mercuri also looks like he is on the verge of his best. He was lively on the ball,” Ackary said.
Remember to have your say each week on Essendon’s performance at the In the Outer section of the Engine Room. Comments need to be in by 5pm every Monday.
So many games have come down to the wire this season with players being asked to decide games with shots at goal in the final minute or even after the siren. So who would you put the ball in the hands of if the Bombers had to kick a critical goal in the dying seconds of a match? In his latest 'Insider' Column, Matthew Lloyd names his man - someone whose ""cool head"" and ""bomb-proof"" technique would guide the ball through the middle when it mattered. Go to The Insider to find out who Lloyd is talking about.
