Essendon has rescued it's season with a morale boosting victory over Collingwood in today’s Anzac day clash at the MCG. In front of a capacity crowd of 70,000, the Bombers dominated the match running out eventual winners by 14 points. Andrew Lovett, in only his third game of AFL, was awarded the Anzac medal for best on ground.
Essendon selectors have left Ben Haynes, Joel Reynolds and Nathan Lovett-Murray out of the squad of 25 it named for today's Anzac Day clash with Collingwood. Lovett-Murray and Reynolds played key roles in Bendigo's thumping 98-point win over North Ballarat on Saturday while Haynes did not take his place in that side, fuelling speculation there could be a late change in Essendon's senior side.
