WELLMAN CLEARED OF MAJOR INJURY
Essendon vice captain Sean Wellman could play in the Bombers' final practice match at Lavington next weekend. Wellman left the ground early in today's match against the Bulldogs holding his left arm following a collision with teammate Dean Solomon. But any fears of serious injury were soon dispelled when scans showed he had simply pinched a nerve and no structural damage had been done.

The only other injury concern for the Bombers was a rolled ankle suffered by Adam McPhee. The injury is still to be fully asssessed and even if he did miss next weekend he is certain to be available for Essendon's Round 1 match against Brisbane.
There were no injuries reported out of the Bendigo Bombers game.
The Bendigo Bombers chalked up their second win of the pre-season today, scoring a comfortable 57-point win over Werribee at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo. The Bombers led at every change but it was a seven goal third term that ended any hopes of a Werribee revival. There were some encouraging signs for the Bombers, none more so than the performance of young ruckman Tristan cartledge who kicked two goals and got plenty of the ball.
