Essendon midfielder Ben Howlett will this weekend play his 50th game at AFL level when the Bombers take on Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.

Since debuting in 2010, Ben has been an incredible asset to the midfield consistently attracting possessions and making a contest for the ball at every opportunity.

In his 2011 season, he was ranked third among his team mates for total disposals and first for tackles having collected a massive 153 tackles for the season. He was also one of only seven Bombers to play all 23 games for the season.

He has played all 11 games this season for the Bombers giving him the best ‘back-to-back’ streak in the Bombers’ side with 42 games in a row. For this season, he has already amassed 79 tackles and proved indispensable through the middle of the ground.

Born and raised in Western Australia, celebrating his 50th game in his home state is a great reward for his never-say-die attitude shown since joining the Bombers.

His strength and resolve in the midfield should help the Bombers this weekend in what will be a grueling encounter against Fremantle at Patersons Stadium.
