Stanton's Brownlow fitting and members deal
Brent Stanton was at Brodion on Chapel St today, Essendon’s official suit provider, trying on outfits for Monday night’s Brownlow Medal. The 22-year-old said he is honoured to be invited to the event. “It’s an important part of the AFL season. It’s an exciting time to go along and congratulate the Brownlow Medallist of 2008,” he said.

The 22-year-old said he is honoured to be invited to the event.
“It’s an important part of the AFL season. It’s an exciting time to go along and congratulate the Brownlow Medallist of 2008,” he said.
“It’s an amazing night but there is a lot of hype walking up the red carpet.”
Despite this being his third medal night since making his AFL debut in 2004, the young Bomber said he is looking forward to socialising with players from other clubs.
“It’s the most prestigious night in the AFL. To be among the atmosphere and amongst the best players in the league is quite a good occasion. It’s a time to relax and have a chat to the players who you don’t (normally) get to have a chat to,” he said.
Stanton is realistic about a fellow Bomber winning the award, citing Essendon’s poor winning record this season, as the reason.
“There have been a few players who had a good year, like Mark McVeigh, David Hille or Jobe Watson but we didn’t win enough games to get too many votes but, hopefully, we can get someone into double-figures.”
And his tip for the Brownlow Medallist?
“I think Brent Harvey will win this year, just, with Gary Ablett coming back with injury and missing a few games,” he said.
Stanton said he is currently resting his body after a tough season but said Bomber players know how important it is to keep up a certain level of fitness and be in good shape for pre-season training under new high performance coach Pat Cormack.
“You have got to still be professional in your eight weeks off and look after your body. We’re looking for success next year and this is a main part of it,” he said.
