Footy throws up many great stories and it's interesting to compare the careers of past Bomber players.

When you consider that George Rawle made his Essendon debut in the 1923 Grand Finalit's interesting to notethat Essendon’s Hall of Fame Legend Simon Madden played in his first premiership in 1984, in what was his 221st game.

For his team mate Garry Foulds, who also played that day, it was his 200th VFL game.

Both these men went on to play 300 games for the Bombers.
Other players, irrespective of quality of their careers, may have the misfortune of being remembered for their lack of luck in Grand Finals. Rene Kink was big, strong and agile. ‘The Incredible Hulk’ as he was known made his name at Collingwood before making his Essendon debut in 1983.

At Collingwood, Kink played in five Grand Finals for four losses and a draw. His sixth Grand Final appearance, for Essendon in 1983, made that six, without a win.

This is an unenviable record that persists to this day. Unfortunately Kink didn’t play in the winning 1984 Grand Final.
