As expected Essendon mid-fielder Jason Johnson polled the most Brownlow medal votes for the Bombers at last night's count, however surprisingly only polled nine votes for the season. The Bombers shared the Brownlow votes among 18 players, with a combined total of 72 votes - the fourth highest team in the AFL. Damien Peverill was a close second to Johnson, receiving eight votes for the season and past winner James Hird and Adam Ramanauskas sharing third.
