This was the best round of football for the year to date. There were four brilliant matches with very tight finishes. In the wash-up the reigning premiers were edged out by Port Power, Richmond overcame the Bulldogs in their grudge match, Hawthorn beat Carlton after the siren, and the Lions outlasted the Kangaroos. For three quarters it looked like Fremantle might notch a win before Collingwood steadied, while the drive for the eight by Adelaide and Geelong remains alive.
