The Bombers could have considerable selection pressure this weekend with Tayte Pears, Kyle Reimers, Nathan Lovett-Murray and Sam Lonergan all likely to return from injury.
Matthew Knights told media today that the players will be put through a fitness test to see how they pull up ahead of the big Dreamtime at the 'G clash.
“Tayte Pears, Kyle Reimers, Sam Lonergan and Nathan Lovett-Murray will all have a run today and endeavour to put their hand up for selection,"" Knights told Bomber.tv.
“We have four guys on the flipside of Cale (Hooker’s) injury that are pushing pretty hard to come into the selection mix this week.
“After today’s session I will be a little bit wiser on those guys.""
Knights said 20-year-old key defender Pears had recovered quicker than first expected but that his hand injury was not soft tissue related and could actually end up being stronger.
He said there could be a number of changes despite the team defeating last year's losing Grand Finalist, St Kilda, by 12-points.
""One of them will come in for Cale and then we will have at look at whether we make any other changes,” he said.
Hooker is expected to miss up to four weeks with his hamstring injury.
The Bombers are also expected to get Andrew Welsh (suspension), Henry Slattery (ribs) and Ricky Dyson (knee) back in the next few weeks.
Knights also backed ruckman David Hille's aggression on the field saying that big men should try and impose themselves physically.
""David Hille is a very, very fair footballer,"" he said.
""If you look at it in the pure light of day David is a ball player and has been his whole career. If he gets low and stays away from the head he will be fine .. and that is what the rule suggests.""
