Essendon Football Club is pleased to announce exciting smallforward Alwyn Davey will remain at the Bombers for the upcoming season.

A major source of firepower in 2012, Alwyn finished runner-upin the Club’s Goal Kicking award with 29 goals from his 17 appearances.

The 28 year-old said he was excited about season 2013 afterhe extended his contract for one year.

“Essendon is like a home for me, and I’m really happy to beat the Club next season,” Davey said.

“I really enjoyed my footy this year, I felt it was probablyone of my most consistent years at the Club and it was nice to kick a few goalsas well.”

“We’ve got a really good group of guys here. We want to besuccessful, we’re working hard and you can see we are on the right track.”

Senior coach James Hird said Alwyn was a not only a key partof the Bombers structure in 2012 but a major contributor on the park.

“We were really pleased with Alwyn’s overall performancelast season,” said Hird.

“Alwyn is really important part of the way we structure ourforward line, he not only provides us with great speed and forward pressure buthe also has the ability to apply scoreboard pressure.”

“I think the most pleasing thing about Alwyn is he’s beenable to string a couple of really consistent seasons together, and with anotherpre-season under his belt, I believe that will set the foundations for anotherbig year in the forward line.”

Alwyn was recruited from South Adelaide and made his debutfor the Bombers in 2007. The number 29 has played 86 games and kicked 101 goalsfor the Club.
