Joel Reynolds has returned to training after six weeks on the sidelines with glandular fever. Reynolds is on a modified training program and is still two to three weeks away from playing. ""The results from Joel’s most recent blood test indicated that he has recovered from glandular fever. He is back training and is working on building up his base fitness,"" football manager Dominic Cato said.

""Due to the nature of glandular fever, we need to heavily monitor Joel’s training program to ensure he avoids fatigue. We will not be rushing him back, he will gradually build up his program to full strength,"" he said.

Similar to Reynolds, Courtney Johns is the other player who has spent the majority of the season on the long-term injury list. Johns is currently staying with his family in Perth after recovering from hip surgery.

""At this stage, the surgeon’s have indicated that Courtney’s operation was successful. As suspected, flaking bone was removed from his hip,"" Cato said.

""We are expecting a full medical report from his surgeon in the coming week, so then we will be better placed to evaluate his rehabilitation program.""

After having an arthroscope on his knee two weeks ago, Mark Mercuri is recovering well. He was walking laps at training last week and Cato said the 29-year-old is making fantastic progress already. ""Mark is making a steady recovery, however we are not in any hurry to rush him back. We expect him to be available for the match after the bye weekend,"" Cato said.

In other injury news, young ruckman Tristan Cartledge is expected to miss one more week with a sprained ankle. After just failing to pass a fitness test for the past two weeks, Ben Haynes is available for selection this week. Haynes returns after eight weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Jobe Watson was a late withdrawal from last Friday night’s match against Fremantle with a hamstring. He is doubtful to get up for this week.

Rookie James Davies is having surgery on his foot this morning to remove a growth on the bone. ""The flesh growth is pressing on his nerve and making it extremely difficult for James to even walk,"" Cato said. Davies is expected to be sidelined for the next month.

In tribunal news, Scott Lucas will front the AFL Tribunal tomorrow night after being reported by umpire Michael Vozzo in the first quarter of the Round 10 match against Fremantle. Lucas was reported for allegedly engaging in unduly rough play.
