FOUR BOUNDARY UMPIRE TRIAL TO BEGIN IN ROUND 21
The AFL will use four boundary umpires in each match of the upcoming 2008 Toyota AFL Finals Series, as announced earlier this season. This system will also be used in rounds 21 and 22 this week and next week, so that the umpires are familiar with the system when used in the finals series. The system allows for two boundary umpires on each side of the ground -- one boundary umpire on each side of the ground will start in the traditional position on the point of the centre square, with the other boundary umpire on each side to begin play around the half-forward region.
