Essendon assistant coach Gary O’Donnell says that the tactics used to overrun reigning premiers Hawthorn, will be integral against Adelaide in this Sunday’s game at Etihad Stadium.
“They train very well, and are very organised and well disciplined. They’ve got a few young kids who are taking over the midfield roles,” Gary said on Best 22.
“Although they haven’t got the bigger bodies like Richutto and Goodwin, who has been playing down back. Their resilience and toughness isn’t quite as high as it used to be, which is an opportunity for us on the weekend.
“This week Prismall is a good chance to play for us, he’s been in good form, he’ll need to play a few games to get his AFL speed up to scratch.
“Reimers is another possibility for us this week, and Courtnay Dempsey is definite for us. His run and carry and the confidence other players have in him when he does this, is excellent.
“We’ve got to look after Patty Ryder; we’ll keep an eye on him this week and make sure he is not getting battered by the Adelaide rucks.”
