<P class=MsoNormal style=""MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 10pt"">Scott Gumbleton could make a long awaited return to football this weekend after being cleared of a back injury which kept him out of the club’s NAB Cup opener against West Coast. General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said all but one of Essendon’s list have been declared fit to play in either the club’s NAB Challenge match against Melbourne or the club’s VFL practice match against a Richmond second-18, however a final decision on Gumbleton will be made later in the week.
Scott Gumbleton could make a long awaited return to football this weekend after being cleared of a back injury which kept him out of the club’s NAB Cup opener against West Coast.
General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said all but one of Essendon’s list have been declared fit to play in either the club’s NAB Challenge match against Melbourne or the club’s VFL practice match against a Richmond second-18, however a final decision on Gumbleton will be made later in the week.
“Scott Gumbleton will be a wait and see,” Hamilton said.
“He is free of pain. He trained this morning pain-free but we are just being cautious with his progress and we will make a decision as to whether he will play over the next couple of days.”
Travis Colyer is the only player ruled out for either match after undergoing surgery to repair the webbing in his hand which split while attempting to mark at training.
“Travis had to have some plastic surgery on his hand and is in a cast at the moment so he will be out for a few weeks,” Hamilton said.
“We need to get a little bit more information on how it is healing and those sort of things before we can put a timeline on how long he will miss at this stage.”
